Concrete Engineer - Old Saybrook

O&G Industries is recruiting for a Concrete Engineer to become part of a high impact, high performing group of men and women working on the replacement of the historic Connecticut River Bridge located between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme, CT.

This $1.3 billion, joint venture project with O&G and Tutor Perini will significantly enhance rail traffic in the Northeast Corridor, improving efficiency, safety, and reliability for Amtrak, commuter rail, and freight operators.

As part of this innovative project, you’ll be involved in building a state-of-the-art, two-track, electrified movable bascule bridge, complete with new track, signal, power, communication, and security systems.

This project presents a rare opportunity to tackle complex challenges that encompasses a significant infrastructure initiative in the Northeast.

Responsibilities:

  • Manager vendor purchase orders, product data submittals and shop drawing submittals
  • Coordinate and manage vendors and subcontractors (H&A Steel, Tilcon, Coreslab, Modern, etc.)
  • Verify work is installed per the plan and shop or working drawings
  • Develop pick and barge plans with management team
  • Document and work with Cost Engineer to track impacted RFI’s, DICO and submittal review timelines
  • Work with Scheduler to manage appropriate schedule items and relationships
  • Develop Major Work packages to include installation plans, support engineering, production sheets, appropriate budgets, working drawings, etc.
  • Track productivity and provide weekly reports and update management of status
  • Coordinate with QC for necessary testing and results
  • Manage/attend scope specific coordination meetings
  • Attend Foreman and Superintendent meetings daily
  • Manage timecards and cost coding

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience relevant to the type of work and the scope of the project and/or previous experience as an Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or another related field
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
